A guide to London on a Budget

Anybody who knows me knows that I take my food very seriously. I want it to be good, locally sourced, organic, healthy good food. That's a big ticket in London. London is very expensive and although it takes some knowldge there is always a way to eat healthy and cheaply. Here's a list I did for a reader who wanted to know how to survive a trip here on a budget and not throw the diet out the window. I try and keep lunch to £10 or under so here are my go to places:

Pret A Manger of course is great for salads, soups and wraps http://www.pret.com/

So is EAT http://www.eat.co.uk/ and PURE http://www.pure-madeforyou.co.uk/

For a restaurant that is healthy there is Mrs. Marengo's http://www.mrsmarengos.co.uk/ and the sister restaurant, slightly more expensive, Mildreds http://www.mildreds.co.uk/

For sandwhiches and such: Fernandez and Wells:  http://www.fernandezandwells.com/

Tibits is great and charges by the weight of your plate http://www.tibits.co.uk/e/

For mexican El Camino: http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/52/1506450/restaurant/Soho/El-Camino-Mexicano-London and Tortilla http://tortilla.co.uk/

Also Reynolds is great and everywhere http://www.letsgrazereynolds.co.uk/

Busaba is more expensive but really delicious and has fresh juices http://busaba.com/

Vatnra and Vitao is great especially for vegan food on a budget and has great fresh juices: http://www.vantra.co.uk/ and http://www.vitaorganic.co.uk/

Also any Marks and Spencers SIMPLY FOOD has great packaged food that is super high end and healthy: http://www.marksandspencer.com/MS-Simply-Food-at-BP-Connect/b/332462031

Kaffeine http://www.kaffeine.co.uk/

Foxcroft and Ginger http://www.foxcroftandginger.com/

Whole Foods Soho http://wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/soho/

Abokado has great sushi, wraps, soups and juices http://www.abokadosushi.com/

Waitrose is a good supermarket for all necessities http://www.waitrose.com/

Coming soon.....restaurant reviews.....what do you think?

The Homestead

A little behind on my blogging. The world of Visual Effects is taking most of my time as this movie is ramping up. I must say it's one of the hardest things I've ever tried to learn. I will try and post when I can. Have a great weekend!

Weekend Wear

Tom Ford’s five gentlemanly commandments:

The fashion designer offers five steps to being the ultimate modern gentleman.

1. You should put on the best version of yourself when you go out in the world because that is a show of respect to the other people around you.

2. A gentleman today has to work. People who do not work are so boring and are usually bored. You have to be passionate, you have to be engaged and you have to be contributing to the world.

3. Manners are very important and actually knowing when things are appropriate. I always open doors for women, I carry their coat, I make sure that they're walking on the inside of the street. Stand up when people arrive at and leave the dinner table.

4. Don't be pretentious or racist or sexist or judge people by their background.

5. A man should never wear shorts in the city. Flip-flops and shorts in the city are never appropriate. Shorts should only be worn on the tennis court or on the beach.

Have a good weekend!! She & Him - In The Sun (2010)

I'm in the LA Times!!

So excited to have one of my photographs featured in the LA Times piece on my friend Alexis' home. Such a stunning place. Alexis founded the store TINI: This Is Not Ikea, the fabulous vintage furniture store on Fairfax where you may remember I furnished my old apartment from. Check it out: one of my photographs hangs above his bed in photos 12 and 13. Thanks Alexis and everyone in LA go check out his store on Fairfax.
